CHIP-8

A CHIP-8 interpreter written in zig.

Building

Generic Linux

zig build

or run directly with

zig build run -- <path/to/ROM>

With Nix

nix build

or run directly with

nix run .# -- <path/to/ROM>

Developing with Nix

Enter the development environment with

nix develop

If the build.zig.zon file changes update the associated deps.nix with

zon2nix > deps.nix

TODO

  • Use Web-GPU via mach-gpu
  • Refactor Code
  • Restructure Repository
  • Package as Flake
    • This requires enabling Internet during the build process to accommodate Zig's new package manager. This can be achieved by enabling impure-derivations with --extra-experimental-features but this is broken. See https://github.com/NixOS/nix/issues/6478
    • Used zon2nix instead.
